Notes by Presenters and Conference Participants:

-Common theme from labor leaders –Health Care must be a right – it is biggest contract issue- they are fighting for patient care fund,- hospitals are putting profits above needs of patients

-need not only a Single payer financing system but a Single standard of care

-nurses wages and working conditions are being eroded-nurses make less now than nurses aides made 20 years ago Kaiser Permanente although non profit is making huge profits each year, shirking mental health needs , allowing denial of care

-the biggest impediment to organizing non union workers is health care – if we have Single Payer it would be a complete game changer for employers
